Lighting Spec for Apparel Retail
Color temperature, CRI, and beam angle decisions that actually move conversion.
Lighting is the cheapest tool you have for raising conversion rate, and it is almost always specified wrong.
What we spec
- 3000K for warm apparel, 3500K for contemporary, 4000K only for athletic/technical
- CRI 90+ minimum. Below that, colors look muddy and product looks cheaper than it is.
- Narrow beam (15–24°) accents on feature walls and mannequins; medium beam (36°) ambient for the rest of the floor.
- 2.5x the ambient lux on feature walls. Anything less and the eye won't track to them.
