Stockroom Design That Protects Margin
The room your customers never see is often the room that decides whether your store is profitable.
A well-designed stockroom cuts labor cost on every single shift. Door swing, shelf depth, pick path, and proximity to the sales floor all compound into hours per week.
Three rules we follow
- One trip from truck to shelf. Receiving should drop within 15 feet of primary stock. Every extra trip is paid labor.
- Adjacent to the fitting rooms. Re-merchandising is the #1 stockroom-to-floor movement in apparel. Put them next to each other.
- Eye-level for top SKUs. Use vertical zoning. Top sellers at eye level, slow movers up high or down low.
